Blogging Revisited: Time to Reclaim the Mojo
For today’s entry, I thought it would be good to go over a little about the blog and my plans. In the Hello and Welcome to My New Blog post, I gave a painfully short intro and not much of anything in the reader. That changes now!
When I came up with the idea for this site in early 2024, I had wanted to get back into content creation in some form. I mentioned in that short welcome blog about having a fan website for Food Network host Alton Brown. While doing the fan blog, I received offers to interview cookbook authors, be in on media pressers for other Food Network shows, and promotional items. I enjoyed challenge of coming up with one of Alton’s recipes to try, reviews of his shows, and talking about the times I met him at events. The site itself just sort of faded away because Good Eats stopped airing new episodes and I was to busy with other things.
Enter 2022. I was working at a job that wasn’t too exciting and I found myself drawn back into the idea of creating content for some online media format. In early 2021, I started a Youtube channel to document my weight loss. After the weight loss struggles mounted, I changed some of the focus to just daily things I liked to do. In 2022, I did Vlogmas for the first time but only managed to make videos for the first 10 days. Because of my job and seasonal blahs, I fell off at recording and editing. I kicked around a few ideas after that but nothing got off the ground. I tried Vlogmas for a second time last year, but only got a few days into it before failing again.

Creating videos was always a joy for me, but I struggled to consistently dedicate time to content creation. My passion for making videos and writing has been with me since my teenage years. With a degree in Communications, focusing on journalism, I thought I could easily manage it. However, finding the time to produce content regularly proved to be a significant challenge.
In February, I decided to start a blog and eventually expand it into a YouTube channel. My goal was to write and create videos about topics that fascinated me and that I believed others would enjoy. Now, five months later, after purchasing the URL and setting up the basics, I still don’t have much of a blog or YouTube channel to show for it.
Despite the initial setbacks, my enthusiasm for sharing my passions hasn’t waned. This blog represents a fresh start, a platform where I can explore and discuss the topics that truly matter to me. By focusing on Creativity, Lifestyle, Productivity, and Seasonal themes, I aim to create content that resonates with readers who share similar interests. Each post will be a step towards building a community of like-minded individuals, eager to learn, grow, and be inspired together.
